On the south part of the Earth, there’s an island on the sea, and it’s name Is New Zealand.
HISTORY of New Zealand
New Zealand was found by a Dutch named Abel Janzoon Tasman. He didn’t land on it because Maori (the “local” people) ate two of his batman who he sent to the island to have a look. The name of the island “New Zealand” came from Tasman’s hometown which was in Holland “Zealand”. Tasman was the first European who found New Zealand.
The first European who landed on New Zealand was James Cook (Captain Cook). He stayed in Australia for 3 years to learn Maoris' language, then he went to New Zealand and drew a detailed map of New Zealand with his helpers.
For remaining them, people named the sea between Australia and New Zealand “Tasman”, and the sea between the north island and the south island in New Zealand “Cook”.
WEATHER of New Zealand
New Zealand is on the south part of the Earth, so when it’s summer in China, it’s winter in New Zealand. Because there is a hole in the ozonosphere, ultraviolet rays there are very strong. When it’s sunny and the temperature is 23℃, it feels like that it’s 30℃ in Guangzhou!
That’s something what I’ve leant from the trip. Now, I’m going to talk about my trip. However, although I’ve tried my best, I still can’t write down all of my trip and my feelings, because it can’t be told by words.
I went on a trip in New Zealand during the winter holiday for 14 days. As soon as I arrived in New Zealand, I found it was really beautiful and full
of energy.
Natural environment in New Zealand was fantastic! Lakes and rivers beside glaciers were in an unbelievable blue: it looked like a bar of ice but the ice was flowing, However, lakes in the cities which had a large population is dirtier. The water is green. If there’s a plain in New Zealand, there will be some farms on it. The pasture on the plain were gold, and sheep and cows ate pasture leisurely under the blue sky which looked like a blue crystal with no cloud on it. Mountains in New Zealand were not very tall (high), and the highest mountain was the Cook Mountain (3,754m). If a mountain is higher then 1,000m, there will be some snow on it (the place which is higher than 1,000m on the mountain).
Food in New Zealand was great! The most delicious food in it were beef and ice cream (although New Zealand is famous for its sheep). I ate a lot there every day, so I thought I was getting fatter! That’s terrible, isn’t it? QAQ
People in New Zealand was great! There was a strange thing in New Zealand: people always held parties and drink beer, wine and spirits on every Friday. Do you know why? Their salary are weekly! I want to get my salary every week in the future!
New Zealand is such a wonderful place for holidays! I would like to come here during the holidays every year!
