I. Pre-reading Presentation

1.     Getting ready

Greet Ss as usual. At the same time, wave your hand.

2. Show some pictures on PPT.

Ask : What kind of language are they using?

Give some examples:

  He means “Yes” by nodding his head.

They mean “No” by shaking their heads.

Play a game “act and guess”.

Answer: They are using body language.

3.  Ask : What is body language?

   the gestures

   the expressions on your face

4. Show some pictures about facial expressions.

5. Finish P18 A.

6. Look at the cartoon and lead in the topic of this lesson : body language.

 

 

 

 

Talk with partners about the Qs.

 

 

 

 

 

Try to talk about body language as much as possible.

II. While-reading Procedure

 

 

 

 

 

1. Pre-reading

Prediction: look at the photo, the title and the introduction to the story on P19. Then answer the questions.

1) Where does the story take place?

2) Who are the young people in the photo?

3) What body language are the boy and the girl showing? Tick B for the boy and G for the girl.

4) Which person looks friendlier, the boy or the girl?

 

2. While-reading

Task 1. Simon is talking to a friend on the phone. Read the story on P19 and complete his words with the information
from the story.

Task 2. Find out different body languages between Debbie and Simon.

Task 3. Answer the questions.

Task 4. Put the events of the story in the correct order.

 

Read and try to finish the exercises.

 

 

 

To let Ss be more familiar with the whole structure of the article and it’s good for Ss to recite it in class

 

 

III. Post-task Activity

1. Learn new words and important phrases.

2. Learn the language points.
