An unforgettable experience
As we grow up, we have many unforgettable experiences. Although some of them appear to be absurd, they can teach us a lot.
2 years ago, it was my first time to “suffer from” pre-school military training organized by our school. At first, I did really well in it and sailed through every ordeal. But two days later, I did something really ridiculous, which has left a great impression on me ever since.
On that day, the coach let us stand straight for an hour and screamed, “If anyone in your group moves, all the group members will be punished.” Scared of the punishment, we just strictly followed what the coach ordered. However, 40 minutes later, a girl in our group made a mistake because of feeling exhausted. The coach was so irritated that he punished all of us. But he abated the punishment for girls. I thought it was unfair, so I shouted to the coach, “You can’t do that. Don’t you believe in equality between men and women?” It was at that moment that I realized I had said something offensive and the coach might “kill” me. I thought I should apologize to him at once but all this was too late. The coach rushed towards me just like an angry bull. I even saw an active volcano which may erupt at any time. Then he commanded me to stand for another two hours without any breaks.
After that, he yelled to me, “The most different thing between men and women is that I can abate somewhat for women but I can’t abate for men. Men should be stronger so that they can face problems that women can’t face. It isn’t about feminism.”
This experience is truly memorable for me. I will remember all the way whenever I am in trouble. It tells me nothing is completely fair, so as a man, I will work harder and face all the difficulties and obstacles in front of me. Never give up and never say die, and you can make it one day.
