My
First Trip Abroad
We became more excited as
the plane was going to land on Vancouver Airport. I could see the green land,
white buildings through the window. But I could feel that my heart was already
down there.
Finally, we landed on this amazing
Newfoundland. The fresh air and soft breeze outside eased our tiredness. Everything
we saw was totally familiar but strange. Cars, buses, and motorbikes were
running along the lanes; typical western buildings seemed so peaceful with the
warm sunshine falling on them. We, seated on the school bus, enjoyed everything
and the ups and downs of the road felt like a rollercoaster.
Getting off the bus, we were
greeted warmly by the host families. Shaking hands and a “nice to meet you”
expressed our gladness. I took out the prepared presents---a box of delicate
chopsticks and chinese tea. And Kathy gave them a couple of red chinese knots
and paintings, which they liked very much. I knew we would have a good time in
this new, strange but kind city.
